GIVING

Today
was one
of Mom's
days as a
BELL RINGER
for the
SALVATION
ARMY.
(She says she'll
never be warm
again-mol)
Oh, MOM
wants to
talk this
time-I
GUESSS
that's okay.
BUT
 just to
be  clear
to everyone
we are
NOT
RESPONSIBLE
for her words.
Okayy, take it away...
"Blessed to Give".
There is such a
 GREAT NEED
right now
and not all
because of
the holidays.
The poor economy
and freak storms
have taxed the
SALVATION ARMY
&
THE RED CROSS
to their limits.
I ring bells
because it's
the way I
can lend a
hand.
If you want
to help,
you wouldn't
have to give a
monetary gift.
You could ring
bells, you could
volunteer to serve
meals or even
just take your
unwanted items
to Goodwill or
the Army's
thrift store.
Maybe just
pay attention
to those around
you-even
giving an
encouraging
word, holding
a door open,
or reaching
something up
high at the store...
(Us vertically challenged
people appreciate that :) )
well, you may
never know what
your gesture has
meant to
THAT
person at
THAT
 time,
but just
THINK,
you may have
WARMED
a heart
that was
SAD or
HOPELESS.
That is a
GRAND
feeling!
Myself and
my kitties
 are so
BLESSED
with a roof
over our heads,
enough food
to eat and
support of
family and friends.
I like
this
giving feeling
ALOT,
I think it
needs to
 be a
MUCH
BIGGER
part of my
life and
hopefully
the person
I make the
EFFORT
 with will
pay it
FORWARD.
"They" say
we can only
change ourselves-
but I hope at
least the ripple
effect of kindness
goes on and on.
THANKS
 for taking your
time to read
the ramble.
May you and
yours have a
PURRRfect
(sorry, borrowed their word)
holiday season.

  3. So true, Ellie! I never knew I could volunteer to ring the bell for them! Thank you for sharing this! It just touches my heart to see them there each year. I remember dropping change in the kettle as a child. Blessing to you and the kitties at this wonderful time of year!

  4. Well said. Bring on those ringers. So many needy people out there. I used to say I was thankful to have a roof over my head even if it leaks. but we fixed the roof so I am so thankful now that it doesn't.

  6. Ramble on anytime! Giving is the reason of the season and it matters not what you give...money, time, a kind word when someone is lost in sorrow. Put money in the red kettle last night, never pass one by without doing that, and yes the need is so great. God gives you more than you could ever give away. Be a blessing in this world, because you may be the only light some people see.
Keep this spirit of giving all the year. Loved this post.

  7. It was good to read of your giving of your time to help others. The demands on these agencies that help the less fortunate have been very great, and the need continues to be great. Those of us with housing and food are indeed blessed!
